Over the past few years we have seen many divine men, spiritual gurus, Maulvi, fathers or babas, who have appeared in the news for all the wrong reasons. They are convicted of financial fraud, rape and even murder. Many god-men have been exposed, but they shamelessly maintain their innocence despite the availability of compelling evidence.
Whenever someone has doubts about them, their supporters allege a conspiracy and sometimes even take up arms against them, whether it is an individual or the state. These spiritual gurus may be reserved or even imprisoned, but their followers refuse to stop believing in them most of the time.
Yes, we are talking about the famous Swami Chidanand Saraswati, who is a spiritual leader and the president of Parmarth Niketan Ashram, Rishikesh; which is known as the greatest spiritual institution in India. He is also president / founder of the India Heritage Research Foundation (IHRF).

Not Swami, he is a Land Grabber:-

Uttarakhand forestry department filed a lawsuit against Swami Chidanand Saraswati for encroachment and construction.
This happened on the instruction of Uttarakhand High Court during PIL trial filed by Pauri Garhwal based Archana Shukla.
Well, you may not believe us, but several well-known media outlets have published this news, and even the High Court itself has strictly ordered the removal of Swami Chidanand Saraswati and his Ashram ‘Parmarth Niketan’.
This is not the first such case; Swami was arrested for occupying State Forest land in Virpur Khurd. There is another case filed against him for encroaching and building more than 2.5 acres of forest land in the Dehradun forest subdivision. This case is filed under section 26 of Indian Forests Act 1927.
Here it is important to know that Section 26 of the Indian Forest Act of 1927 deals with acts prohibited in forests including burning a reserved forest, felling a tree, quarrying, clearing or breaking up any forest land for cultivation or any other purpose building any building or construction etc. Parmarth Niketan illegally occupied 35 acres of the Forest department where they built a Great hall, 52 rooms and a huge Gaushala, all on government land.
He also encroached on state land in Birpur Khurd, the case went to court and the High Court ordered the government to take drastic action against him and free the land from its control.
Although further action was needed against him to protect Devbhoomi from the clutches of such a blatant land thief, many of his illegal structures worth several crores were demolished after the order of the Nainital High Court.

He opens Madarsa on encroached land:-

Chidanand has also started a new business, where he befriends the Maulanas and cedes them forest land to build Madarsa. The modus operandi is quite simple, it encroaches on forest land with the help of local forest officers and state government officials. Then, in the name of the establishment of the Gurukuls, he brought in Muslims and founded a madrasa.
On May 15th, Swami Chidanand Saraswati did something that was not only shocking but morally wrong. He organized a religious gathering where many Batuks were performing Ved-path. Suddenly, many students from Madarsa came, who were greeted by Swami’s staff, and then all of them recited several verses from the Quran by the river Ganges.
After Swami has made a statement, that Madarsa should come to Muth, Ashram and Gurukul and Muth should reach out to Madarsa, it will help us to understand each other’s religion and values.
However, it is a known fact that no Hindu activity can be performed in Madarsa, as it is Haraam according to Islamic belief, but by reciting the Quran in the Ashram or Muth, Swami indeed instills the feeling of submission among Hindus and ensure superiority to Muslims.

He is a fake Spiritual Guru:-

Many people do not know about his history, you can view it on the internet and we are pretty sure you will not get much information about his birth, education, first years, etc.
His real name is Santosh Arora. His family was based in Pakistan and after the split moved to India. He was never initiated in any authentic line of guru parampara. He adopted this name “Chidanand Sarasvati” so that he could portray himself as the real Chidanand Saraswati, a disciple of Swami Shivananda Ji, the founder of the Society for Divine Life, Hrishikesh.
Later, when he got into cheating people abroad as Chidanand, he was summoned by Swami Chidanand Ji and was severely rebuked that he had never done so in his life, and only then did he forgive him.
Until Swami Chidanand was alive, he used the name “Narayan Muni”, but once he died, he began using the name Swami Chidanand Ji again. The Society for Divine Life prevented him from coming to the ashram and strictly instructed their disciples and Sanyasis not to ever visit Parmarth in any way.

Gross violations of Labour Laws and Section 80G:-

Various RTI activists and sources have pointed out that Swami Chidanand and Parmarth Niketan have been accused of violating Labor laws. They also collect donations and blatantly violate Section 80G of India’s Income Tax rules.

Polluting the sacred Rover Ganges with Ashram’s Sewer:-

Everyone knows Parmarth Niketan’s vast campus, which has around 1000 rooms where guests and staff can stay. However, probably not many people know that the Ashram does not have the capacity to treat and destroy the drainage system.
Many people have raised this concern in the past and the Government sent many audit teams to check this and found that Ashram has quite poor wastewater treatment capacity if we consider the capacity of several thousand who can be inside the Ashram at any point in time.
It has been pointed out many times that the Ashram is discharging sewage in the Ganges itself, which is completely morally and religiously unacceptable.

Gross violator of Law and Order:-

After the Kedarnath disaster, the Uttrakhand Government issued a number of guidelines issued by the then Uttrakhand State Government to restrict any form of construction to within 200 hundred meters of the Ganges River.
But as usual, Chidanand Saraswati, who was desperate to seize power, completely ignored this ruling, and carried out construction work in his ashram, located within 200 meters of the Ganges bank. Even the Ganga Puja ghat that this ashram is using has been developed on an encroached land.

Shameless violations of COVID Protocols:-

We are in the midst of a global COVID pandemic situation and we have to abide by the norms set by the Government of India and the Ministry of Health to protect the spread of the virus at all costs whereas Chidanand Saraswati mocked both the Central and State government rules. He brought in Muslim contractors and workers from other states, although he could find enough local contractors and workers.
These Muslims are part of such extremists, who last year put our doctors’ lives at risk and tried to break the quarantine, and are now allowed to be in huge numbers without any RTPCR reports or assurance that they do not pose a health hazard to local people or insiders.

Local authorities and Government protect him:-

Chidanand Saraswati has a long history of mocking the government and abusing his powers. Local authorities and those in government officials have always extended their indirect support to him, by abetting him in violation of state and judicial decisions, which is very much deserved regret and indigestion.
The goal of this article is to spread awareness about such a black sheep of Hinduism. He is someone who is using the name of Hinduism, Yoga and Bharat, but is actually deceiving the people, occupying land and promoting the jihadist mentality shamelessly.
